Grant Report

Following the successful award of £17,720 from SSENs Resilient Communities Fund 2022 the Lonach Hall Community Association commissioned the installation of a generator at the community hall in Strathdon.

The Hall is a hub for the surrounding community in a rural location where power cuts are common and often extending to several days. The award of this grant and the installation of a generator in the hall will provide valuable support for the community in the surrounding areas, a warm space to use. We have been in contact with the Marr area partnership and they have agreed to support us in the event of a power cut and supply hot meals where required. This will make a huge difference to the community and enable us to assist local residents of all ages. The grant award was used to prepare the area for the install and purchase and fully install the Generator.

Now that the generator is in place and fully functional the Lonach Hall Committee have shared via our Community AGM meeting and Social Media the availability of the resilience hub and promoted the award of the SSEN Grant enabling this project. This has been warmly received by the Community.
